Is it immoral to be wealthy? What does it mean to be immoral? According to Vocabulary.com being immoral is “deliberately violating accepted principles of right and wrong”. Being wealthy isn’t immoral because some people have to work hard to be wealthy, some people are born wealthy. Just being wealthy isn’t immoral, but being wealthy by doing wrong things, like robbing a bank or cheating people is immoral. So no it is not immoral to be wealthy, but being wealthy by doing wrong things is immoral.
Is it unjust that some people have more wealth than others? Let me ask you this, would it be unjust if one person never got married, had no children, saved up, and had a high paying job that he worked full time six days a week and ten to twelve hours a day and got very wealthy compared to a different person who decided to not go to college and lived in his parents basement and didn’t have a job his whole life would that be unjust. In my opinion it is not unjust if one person is more wealthy than a different person. There are specific decisions that people can make that determine their wealth and some people are better than others at making good financial decisions.
What moral limits are there on how a person can gain wealth? There are several ways to become wealthy, you could be born wealthy, you could work hard to become wealthy or you could win the lottery or something like that. But there are also other ways to become wealthy that would be considered immoral like robbing a bank or a store. I think the moral limits to becoming wealthy start at when you have to do something wrong that breaks a law or is just wrong to become wealthy.
