Personal Finance, Week 13: An Achievable Idea for a Small Business You Could Run

I am going to be talking about raising ducks to get duck eggs. Why duck eggs? Duck eggs have become very popular in the United States over the past years because so many people are allergic to chicken eggs, but not duck eggs. To raise ducks for eggs first you need to get ducks. What you will need to decide is whether to get ducklings or to get fully grown ducks. There are both highs and lows to each option. If you decide to get ducklings you will have to wait longer to get eggs, but you will also have them while they are super cute, unlike adults. If you decide to get adult ducks you will most likely get eggs faster, but they might not trust you immediately since you will be new to them. You will need somewhere to keep the ducks. Now there are several different kinds of coops for ducks. One is a stationary coop with a run. A stationary coop with a run is a duck house that doesn’t move with a small pen attached to the side of it so that the ducks can be inside the house or outside in the run but can’t get outside. The other coop option is for free-ranging ducks. free ranging ducks need a coop that they can get in and out of easily. If you are doing this in a small area I would recommend a coop with a run but if you have a lot of space then you can free-rang your ducks.

So if you are going to get eggs you are going to need a place for the ducks to lay their eggs. It is especially important if you are free-ranging your ducks to have a nest or nesting box for them to lay their eggs. If you don’t have an area of water or somewhere where the ducks can get water I would recommend getting a small kitty pool or something like that for them that is deep enough for them to swim/float in. You should also have a place where they can get food, probably near their pool. Once your ducks are laying regularly you should collect eggs everyday. If you are trying to sell your ducks eggs I would recommend trying to sell them to neighbors or other people that you know that are in your community.
